Cadillac CTS-V Coupe MT (Mk 2)
Description
The second generation Cadillac CTS-V Coupe was the first true muscle car from Cadillac, offering high performance along with rich interior trim and a host of high-tech features. Based on the platform of the Cadillac CTS model, it became the ancestor of the sports series with the “V” index, which is an analogue of the Mercedes-Benz AMG and BMW M. The first generation of the CTS-V was produced in 2004-2007. and was offered only with a sedan body. In 2009, the new CTS-V Sedan went on sale, and in 2010, the Coupe and Sport Wagon versions appeared.
The Cadillac CTS-V Coupe debuted at the 2010 North American International Auto Show in Detroit and entered production in the summer of 2010 as a 2011 model.
Engine
The car was equipped with a 6.2-liter turbocharged LSA V8 engine, which was similar to the LS9 used in the Chevrolet Corvette C6. He debuted in 2009 in CTS-V. LSA has been certified by SAE: 556 hp. (415 kW) at 6100 rpm and 747 Nm at 3800 rpm. GM called it "the most powerful ever offered in Cadillac's nearly 106-year history." The LSA had a smaller 1.9L supercharger rather than the 2.3L of the LS9 variant. Other differences included a slightly lower compression ratio of 9.1:1, a single heat exchanger and cast pistons. The cylinder block was made of aluminum alloy with cast iron cylinder liners, the crankshaft was made of forged steel. The power unit had a single lower camshaft and an Eaton supercharger.
Transmission
There were two 6-speed transmissions to choose from: a Tremec TR-6060 manual or 6L90 automatic with manual shifting via steering wheel paddles. Moreover, if with a manual gearbox the car developed 308 kph, then with an automatic one only 282 kph.
Chassis
The CTS-V coupe had the same wheelbase as the sedan, but was lower in height and featured an almost inch longer rear track.
The GM Sigma II rear-wheel drive platform was equipped with independent coil spring suspension at the front and multi-link at the rear, with Magnetic Ride Control damper control technology with a choice of Tour and Sport modes.
The 19-inch aluminum alloy wheels were fitted with Michelin Pilot Sport 2 tires measuring 255/40 R19 at the front and 285/35 R19 at the rear.
Brake system
The brake mechanisms had 6-piston calipers in front and 4-piston rear Brembo with ventilated discs with a diameter of 380 mm in front and 373 mm in the rear.
Exterior
Distinctive features of the CTS-V version were a larger mesh grille and air intake in the front bumper, a bulging hood, a rosette-shaped twin exhaust pipe in the center of the rear bumper, the absence of a traditional B-pillar, no door handles, and a higher windshield angle (62.3 degrees).
Interior
Exclusive Saffron-trimmed leather seats with contrasting microfiber seat inserts and top stitching came standard (14-way adjustable Recaro sports seats were available as an option). There was also a 40-gigabyte hard drive, an advanced roll-out screen navigation system with digital surround sound, a Bose audio system, and factory Bluetooth phone integration.
