Koenig F48
Description
The Koenig-Specials F48 is a deep redesign of the Ferrari 348tb, which includes two turbos and a full widebody body modification with a wing similar to that of the Ferrari F40. The result was something between a 348 and an F40. Hence the name – “F48”.
A complete redesign of the supercar cost DM 600,000 (including the donor car). There were less than 10 versions of the F48 produced, making this model very rare, and only about 2-3 were right-hand drive.
Engine
The most significant feature of the car was the engine: the 3.4-liter V8 engine was equipped with two Garrett T3 turbochargers, as well as a massive intercooler and a new engine control unit. As a result of the changes, power increased from 300 hp. up to 550 hp, and torque from 324 Nm to 500 Nm. Top speed has also increased from 280 kph to 335 kph.
Transmission
Torque, like on the Ferrari 348tb, was transmitted to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual gearbox.
Suspension
The car received a stiffer and lower suspension with ride height adjustment and new OZ composite wheels with larger tires: front – 245/40 R17, rear – 335/35 R17.
Brake system
At the front, the car received carbon-ceramic brake discs, long before Mercedes-Benz and Porsche began offering such an option.
Exterior
The car body received noticeably wider wings, especially at the rear, as well as a front spoiler and rear wing in the style of the Ferrari F40.
Interior
The interior remains virtually unchanged (except for some contrasting yellow trim along the carpet).
